A huntin' we will go...

Just picked up the MN hunting regulations yesterday.... A ritual of August for us here as we begin to plan for the hunt.

I did notice there are some new registration options this year for deer. You can now register your deer over the Internet! This is great for anyone with a smart phone and service out in the field. You can shoot your deer, tag it, gut it, and register it before it even hits the ATV! If you are hunting in deer area 101 (TB management area), 338 - 349 (Antler restriction area) or 287 (also an antler restriction area) then you must present the deer at a walk-in registration station.

Many area boundaries have also changed for 2010 including many in zone 3. And your favorite area number may also have changed so be sure you get a fold out area map before registering your deer.

This is the week when we prepare the firearms, shine them up, clean them again go to the range and sight them in, clean them again and wait for November. It may sound early - but I like to get everything ready for the hunt. I check and double check my back pack, get the maps ready and more during this time. If we go out of state, we arrange for accommodations and licenses.

I love the fall and the smell of coffee in the morning! It smells like... hunting season!
