With the passage of the Minnesota Citizens' Personal Protection Act in 2003, Minnesota joined nearly 40 other 'shall' issue states, which now requires Minnesota Sheriffs to issue a permit to carry a firearm to any applicant who is at least 21 years old; who has completed a training course with an approved organization; and who has passed a detailed background check performed by the Sheriff.
This book covers a variety of topics, including those required by the MCPPA. In addition to those basics, the book also covers how to develop a personal protection plan so that violence might be avoided (or prepared for if it strikes); it covers a wealth of basics on different types of handguns and ammunition; it provides a detailed (and visual) review of the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting; and it goes into great detail on Minnesota law, in particular the details around MCPPA and the laws governing the use of force in Minnesota.
If you plan to carry in Minnesota with a Minnesota permit or any of the many other permits accepted in Minnesota (i.e. Utah etc.) then you need this book.

About Shade's Landing Inc.
Shade's Landing Inc. is a family run corporation specializing in personal protection and concealed carry firearms training. The company is CO-owned by Gary and Susan Shade.
Shade's Landing Inc. began in 1984, and in 1988 we changed the company's name to Shade's Landing on moving to Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes, 20 million mosquitoes, and just as many taxes.)
The company was incorporated in November of 1995. From 1995 - 2007, our primary focus was on creating, hosting and marketing award winning web sites for some of the biggest names (individuals) in real estate.
In 2003, the company recognized a need for firearm and personal protection training that was not being addressed and they became the first Minnesota firearms training company to offer a "Multi-State" carry course in the Midwest (September 2003). In July of 2009 we became the first Minnesota company to offer the Minnesota permit lecture portion of the course online.
Today we offer a full range of firearm safety and personal protection classes and have trained over 4,500 people in the art of firearms handling, safety, and personal protection.

We accept and ship domestic orders only.
Also note that we do not operate a brick and mortar store-front presence. Our offices are not a store (so you can't just drop by though we wish we could meet everyone of our customers face to face, we simply cannot).

Pricing
Minimum amount of product ordered must be $12 or more.
All prices and descriptions are subject to change without notice. Shade's Landing Inc. reserves the right to refuse any shipment of product and acceptance of any order due to pricing errors and/or any other reason deemed reasonable by Shade's Landing Inc. There is a $2.00 handling fee placed on all orders.
Important Payment and Credit Card Information
We accept Master Card, Visa and Discover. We do not accept personal checks, money orders or wire transfers.
When you are ordering with a credit card, your shipping address must be the same as the billing address of your credit card statements. This is for your protection. We may also call you at the number you listed in your profile to confirm your order for your protection. If you can not be reached at that number, your order will be cancelled.
Shipping Policies
Most orders ship out of our warehouse within 2-3 days. You can always call our office to check on your order by logging into your account. We will update your order's status as soon as there is a change.By placing an order through our web site, you certify that the products you order are legal in your jurisdiction.
Regular Shipping
We normally ship all orders via US Postal Service, or UPS (Ammo and pepper spray always go via UPS ground). We are located in Apple Valley Minnesota! Ground shipments will take approximately 5 - 7 days to reach you once they are shipped.
Our rates are subject to change! You can view them at checkout time, by clicking on "Rate Info" as you are checking out.
Video Programs
Due to the nature of video programs, all sales of video programs are final. If the DVD is damaged due to manufacturing or shipping, please return it for immediate replacement within 10 days of receipt.
Ammunition:
All sales of ammunition are FINAL! Federal law prohibits us from accepting any returns on ammunition. You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase ammunition. You must be in compliance with your local and state laws. Per Federal law - All ammunition sales are final. No returns.
Non-Ammunition and Non-Video Products
We will replace non-video and non-ammunition defective items with identical merchandise. If we can not replace the item then we will refund your purchase price by crediting your credit card.
RETURN of DEFECTIVE PRODUCT
We will accept the return of defective product up to 10 days after receipt by the customer of the merchandise. Howwever, prior to returning a defective product, you must obtain an RMA (Return Material Authorization) number from us. Call 952-891-1537 Monday through Friday from 10am - 4:30pm. The RMA number must be written clearly on the outside top of the box that contains the product you are returning. No returns will be accepted without an RMA number assigned to it.
No returns are given for ammunition.
If you purchase a firearm class and find you can not make the class, you can reschedule to any other class we offer, but there are no refunds on class purchases.
Knife orders:
You must be 18 years of age to purchase our knives and must click on accepting our sales agreement before your order may proceed. You are responsible for adhering to all local laws regarding owning and possession of knives and certify that the items you order are legal in your jurisdiction.
OC & Pepper Spray:
We will not ship ANY pepper or OC spray to the following jurisdictions: California, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, DC
FIREARMS:
Any firearms offered for sale on this site and sold to non-Minnesota residents will be shipped to a local FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) dealer in your own state and town. We will not ship to any individual or non-Federal Firearms Licensee. Typical transfer fees from your local FFL dealer are usually in the $10 to $20 range. Check with your dealer for details. Your local FFL dealer may fax a copy of his FFL to us at: 952-431-6733. Or e-mail a scanned copy to us at Customerservice@FirearmsAndLiberty.com
For Minnesota residents, you may pick up your firearm at our manufacturing facility in Grasston MN. You'll need your permit to carry or a valid MN purchase permit (available from your Chief of Police or Sheriff), and your drivers license. You must submit to and pass an FBI instant background check (NICS check). All firearm orders are prepaid. If your NICS check results in a denial, you will receive a full refund on your purchase.
